A Message to Our Donors

At Life Saving Society Ltd, we believe that generosity has the power to change lives. Every donation represents an act of kindness, compassion and trust.

We are committed to treating our donors with respect, handling contributions responsibly and using charitable funds to support people and communities in need.

This Donation Policy explains how we accept, manage and use donations, as well as the rights and responsibilities of our donors.

1. Our Charitable Purpose

Life Saving Society Ltd works to support vulnerable individuals, families and communities through charitable initiatives, including:

  • Health and Medical Support: Helping eligible individuals access medical treatment, medication, rehabilitation and essential healthcare.

  • Education: Supporting educational expenses, learning opportunities and school-related needs.

  • Refugee and Family Assistance: Helping displaced people, newly arrived refugees and families experiencing hardship.

  • Basic Infrastructure: Supporting eligible community projects involving clean water, sanitation, clinics and other essential facilities.

  • Emergency and Disaster Relief: Assisting people affected by natural disasters and humanitarian emergencies.

  • Community Wellbeing: Supporting vulnerable children, older people and disadvantaged families.

Our activities are undertaken in accordance with our charitable purposes, available resources and applicable laws.

2. Voluntary Donations

All donations are entirely voluntary.

Donors may choose how much to contribute and whether to make a one-time or recurring donation, where these options are available.

We do not pressure anyone to donate. We respect every person’s financial circumstances and believe that generosity should always be a free and informed decision.

No contribution is too small to be appreciated.

3. How Donations Are Used

Donations are used to advance the charitable purposes of Life Saving Society Ltd.

Depending on the needs of our programs, donations may support direct assistance, charitable projects, program administration, fundraising expenses and reasonable operational costs necessary to deliver our work.

We aim to manage donations carefully, efficiently and transparently.

4. General and Project-Specific Donations

General Donations: Unless otherwise agreed, donations are allocated to charitable activities according to identified needs and organisational priorities.

Project-Specific Donations: Where we accept a donation for a particular project or appeal, we aim to use those funds for the stated purpose.

If circumstances change or a project cannot proceed as intended, we will assess the available options, honour any agreed restrictions and seek donor consent where necessary before redirecting restricted funds.

5. Donation Payments

Donations may be accepted through payment methods made available by Life Saving Society Ltd, including online payment services and bank transfers.

Payment processing may be provided by independent third-party providers, subject to their terms and security arrangements.

Any applicable processing charges will be disclosed where required.

6. Refunds and Payment Errors

Donations are generally considered final once successfully processed because they are voluntary charitable contributions.

However, we recognise that mistakes and exceptional circumstances may occur.

Donors may request a review where:

  • A donation was made in error.

  • An incorrect amount was charged.

  • A duplicate transaction occurred.

  • A transaction was unauthorised.

  • Other circumstances warrant consideration.

Refund requests will be assessed fairly, reasonably and in accordance with applicable Australian law, payment-provider requirements and the circumstances of the donation.

Where a refund is approved, it will ordinarily be returned through the original payment method where practicable.

Please contact us as soon as possible with the transaction details if you believe an error has occurred.

7. Recurring Donations

Where recurring donations are offered, donors will be informed of the donation amount, payment frequency and applicable conditions before authorising the arrangement.

Donors may request cancellation of future recurring donations at any time.

Cancellation will stop future payments once processed, but does not automatically reverse payments already completed.

8. Donation Receipts and Tax Deductibility

Where applicable, we provide donation acknowledgements or receipts containing relevant transaction information.

A donation is not automatically tax-deductible simply because it is made to a charity.

Tax deductibility depends on the organisation’s applicable Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR) endorsement, the nature of the donation and Australian taxation requirements.

Donors should verify eligibility before claiming a tax deduction.

9. Privacy and Donor Information

We respect the privacy of our donors.

Personal information collected in connection with donations will be used for legitimate purposes, such as processing contributions, maintaining records, issuing acknowledgements and communicating with donors where appropriate.

We will handle personal information in accordance with applicable privacy laws and our Privacy Policy.

We will not sell donor information.

10. Ethical Fundraising

Life Saving Society Ltd is committed to honest, respectful and responsible fundraising.

We aim to communicate truthfully about our work, avoid misleading claims and respect the dignity and privacy of the people we assist.

We do not support fundraising practices involving coercion, exploitation, discrimination or undue pressure.

11. Accountability and Transparency

We recognise that donations are given in trust.

Our directors are responsible for appropriate oversight of charitable resources, financial management and organisational activities.

We aim to maintain suitable financial records and meet applicable reporting and governance obligations.

12. Changes to This Policy

Life Saving Society Ltd may update this Donation Policy when necessary to reflect changes in legislation, organisational activities or donation procedures.

The current version will be published on our website with its last updated date.
