4. Donations and Charitable Contributions
Donations to Life Saving Society Ltd are voluntary.
Donors may contribute through approved payment methods made available by the organisation.
We aim to use donations responsibly to advance our charitable purposes, including appropriate program delivery, administration, fundraising and operational expenses.
Unless a specific restriction has been accepted by LSS, donations may be allocated according to identified charitable needs and organisational priorities.
Donations are generally considered final once processed. However, requests involving payment errors, duplicate transactions, unauthorised payments or exceptional circumstances will be considered fairly and in accordance with applicable law.
Where recurring donations are available, donors may request cancellation of future payments in accordance with the disclosed payment arrangements.
Full details are provided in our Donation Policy, which should be read alongside these Terms & Conditions.
5. Donation Receipts and Tax Deductibility
Where applicable, Life Saving Society Ltd may provide receipts or acknowledgements for donations.
A donation is not automatically tax-deductible because it has been made to a charitable organisation.
Tax deductibility depends on applicable Australian taxation laws, the organisation’s Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR) endorsement and the nature of the contribution.
Donors are encouraged to confirm their eligibility and seek independent tax advice where necessary.
We will not represent donations as tax-deductible unless legally entitled to do so.
6. Membership
Formal membership of Life Saving Society Ltd is governed by the organisation’s Constitution and applicable laws.
Individuals wishing to become members must submit an application in accordance with the required procedures.

Subject to the Constitution and applicable eligibility requirements, formal members may have rights including:
- Attending general meetings.
- Voting on matters presented to members.
- Participating in the election of directors.
- Seeking nomination or election as a director where eligible.
Membership may involve joining or ongoing fees where validly determined and communicated.
Under the Constitution, members may also have a limited guarantee obligation of up to AUD $100 in specified winding-up circumstances. This guarantee is separate from membership fees and is not an ordinary payment required simply because a person joins.
Membership rights, obligations, fees, cessation and other procedures remain subject to the Constitution.
If these website terms conflict with the Constitution regarding corporate membership or governance, the Constitution and applicable law prevail.
7. Supporters and Volunteers
Life Saving Society Ltd welcomes individuals who wish to support our mission through financial contributions, volunteering, fundraising, community engagement or professional skills.
A supporter is not automatically a formal member of the organisation and does not obtain membership voting rights merely by making donations or contributing time.
Volunteer applications may be subject to assessment, availability, role suitability, training and relevant safeguarding or background checks where required.
Submitting an application does not guarantee acceptance or appointment to a volunteer position.
Volunteers must follow applicable organisational policies, reasonable safety instructions, confidentiality requirements and standards of respectful conduct.
Unless separately agreed, volunteering does not create an employment relationship or an entitlement to payment.
Any separate volunteer agreement, role-specific requirements and applicable laws continue to apply.
8. Requests for Charitable Assistance
Individuals or families may contact Life Saving Society Ltd to enquire about available charitable assistance.
Requests are considered according to the organisation’s charitable purposes, eligibility criteria, available funding, urgency, relevant evidence and operational capacity.
Submission of an enquiry or application does not guarantee approval or the provision of financial or other assistance.
We aim to consider requests fairly, respectfully and without unlawful discrimination.
Where additional information is required, we may request relevant documents or clarification, subject to applicable privacy requirements.
Medical, legal, financial and other professional services must be provided by suitably qualified professionals where required.
Information or assistance from LSS should not be treated as a substitute for independent professional advice.
