In October 2019, our community received shocking news about a 7-year-old boy we will call MM to protect his identity. MM had a critical heart condition requiring an urgent transplant. However, several challenges stood in the way. The medical costs were immense, and as Afghan refugees in Iran, his parents couldn't afford the expenses. Additionally, despite being on the waiting list at Rajaie Hospital in Tehran, the ban on organ transplants from Iranian citizens to foreigners complicated matters, increasing our worries. MM's condition was worsening, and the cost of treatment was staggering. The community came together, pooling resources and raising the necessary funds while hoping for a miracle. After months of waiting and collective effort,MM received a heart transplant at the hospital mentioned above. Today, he is a healthy boy, attending school, and living happily with his parents. Without a doubt, without the community's support, his life would be very different. Shortly after MM's case, the community faced another challenge.
